Swift Deployment & Precise Repairs
- Cable maintenance by NTT-WE Marine -

We provide two types of maintenance service to meet the requirements of our customers. To ensure the provision of a stable communication service, it is necessary to have a system for swift deployment. The repair of submarine cables, which must be conducted under a range of circumstances, is where the expertise gained from vast experience speaks for itself.

Cable Repair

Depending on the location, environment, and the nature of the failure, there are many conceivable methods of carrying out repairs to the submarine cable. The deep-water repairs (for water depths greater than 20m) are carried out on board the cable-laying vessel, equipped with facilities to repair and test the cable. The cable is retrieved, the damaged parts removed, re-connected and then laid back again.

Preventive Maintenance

Inspection is made periodically to check for wear and irregularities of the submarine cables and the necessary repairs are made to pre-empt failures.

Maintenance & Management of Facility Records

It is very important to maintain and manage the records of the facilities, such as the cable landing area, cable routing, burial depth, and type of cable to achieve precise maintenance of the submarine cables. We maintain a database, using the latest mapping technology to maintain and manage the records of the facilities.

Operation & Management of International Landing Station

To operate submarine cables under optimum conditions, it is necessary to manage and maintain not only the cables but also the landing stations and other facilities as a system.
Normally, the maintenance of the submarine cables and the landing stations are undertaken by separate contractors, but we are able to perform both operations, providing a continuous seamless service.
We currently perform maintenance of submarine cables, owned by many operators such NTT as well as other international communication cables landing in Japan, We also maintain the domestic cables operated by PLDT of the Philippines.
