Message from president 2011.07.12

Japan consists of more than 6,000 islands with more than 400 out of 6,000 being inhabited. The NTT group has a number of targets and the most important amongst them includes providing secure and reliable infrastructure to people in the most remote regions the equal of the infrastructure provided on the main island. This will ensure a continuation of the safe and comfortable lifestyle to which the people of Japan are accustomed and will also ensure large capacity, stable, international communications networks are available to all. This is essential for Japan being located as it is in the Pacific Ocean, at the eastern end of Eurasia, directly opposite to North America.

Our business has links back to the Meiji Period and during this period NTT World Engineering Marine has been consistently engaged in establishing and maintaining submarine cables at the same time as the NTT group has developed. The role of submarine cables has developed and expanded from the early days of telephone and telegraph, through coaxial (analogue) technology to the modern digital age. Modern submarine cable systems carry much clearer data and images than was previously possible and in this, the internet and broadband age, submarine cables play an increasingly significant role.

As the only marine engineering company of the NTT group companies, NTT World Engineering Marine will continue to work hard to meet requests from Customers such as communication companies, central and local governments, and carriers, or information providers, wishing to establish new submarine cable systems. This will be achieved by using our rich experience and know-how gained over many years in both the domestic and international markets and will ensure we keep on expanding our business field.

NTT World Engineering Marine Corporation
CEO & President,
Yoshiaki Hisamoto
